Football is the main sport in Paraguay. Paraguay dispose of a football team, which is since 1990 more powerful. In 1998 and 2002, for the first time, they became qualified for the football world championship.
For the world championship 2006 in Germany they could get qualified with a triumph against Venezuela at the 8th of october 2005.
The best known football players of Paraguay are Jose Luis Chilavert, Roque Santa Cruz and José Saturnino Cardozo.
